GRAPEVINE – 10th to 24th June 2018
Church Family News
Please remember in your prayers:- Margaret & Albert Jefferies who have been unable to share worship with us for a number of weeks. We think of all members of our church family who are maybe struggling with health problems at the present time, and we think of those who are due to undergo hospital tests/operations for various conditions or waiting for results etc and trust all will go well for them.
We also remember all Church family and friends who can no longer share in fellowship with us because of being housebound or who are now in the loving care of Care Homes in the area, and feel sure that knowing they are in our thoughts and prayers is a comfort to them
Many members of our Church Family know Angela Brookes our cleaner here at Greens Lane for many years, and we would ask you to keep Angela and Dave and all their immediate and extended family in your prayers following the sudden death of Angela’s Mum on Wednesday morning. We offer our sincere condolences, support and love to them all at this very sad and distressing time.
Via Grapevine from the Carter family:- Sheila and family say a very big Thank You for all the kindness shown to them in so many different ways following Harold’s death. For the lovely cards, flowers, and baking etc which are all greatly appreciated. Love and thanks to all, Sheila
A message from Millie Bruce reads as follows:- Millie, Jim, David and all the family of Muriel Chisholm would like to thank Greens lane Church family for the love and warm welcome shown to them when they met for the funeral and Thanksgiving Service. The kind hospitality was commented on by all the family members; also the meaningful address by Rev. Christine was much appreciated by us all. Not forgetting the hard working friends in the kitchen – many thanks.
Well done and congratulations to Andy Morrison and retired friend Paul Irwin who both took part in the Charity Swim on Windermere on Friday and Saturday this week, (2mile Fri, 1mile Sat). They were both swimming to raise funds for Macmillan Nurses and hope to touch the £2,500 mark. Three years ago Paul had major surgery for bowel cancer and in the same year a triple heart by-pass and he feels this is a way to give something back to the Charity. Many charities were represented by a huge number of swimmers, and Andy & Paul were told by one of the Macmillan representatives that the total raised for the charity by so many people swimming for them will cover the cost of three Macmillan Nurses for a year. A wonderful achievement – hoping you carry on being ‘swimming buddies’ in readiness for next year !
Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Best Wishes to all who have Birthdays and/or Anniversaries over the next two weeks. A special mention for Jean Raines who has a birthday tomorrow (11th), not a milestone one, but we wish her a very happy day. Love and God’s Blessings Jean XXX

Congratulations to Sandra and Heather Wilkinson for taking part and completing the ‘Race for Life’ last Sunday (3rd) in aid of Cancer Research UK. If you have sponsored them, then please pass on sponsorship money as soon as possible, and if you didn’t add your name to their form, but would like to make a donation to Cancer Research UK in support for them having taken part – there is still time and they would be very happy to receive anything that would help to swell money raised for this extremely important Research fundraising.

They intend to have a fun and games night to include, tea, cakes, snacks and entertainment. Safeguarding Courses/Refresher Courses
The Refresher Course held at Greens Lane on Saturday 26th May was extremely well attended, but it is known that there are still a number of people who were unable to attend on that date. A further Course has been set for Thursday 19th July (2-4pm) at Norton Methodist Church. If you are able to attend please add your name to the list in the vestibule so that those running the course are aware of how many may be in attendance on the day. It is also known that there will be people who have never taken part in any Safeguarding Course and it would be a great help if they could also to add their name to the list detailed as ‘New to Safeguarding’. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to have a word with Jim Bruce who is our Safeguarding Officer.

Please have a word with Margaret if you can offer help.
