GRAPEVINE – 26th May to 9th June 2019.

Church Family News

Please remember in your prayers:- Mavis Brown who had a short stay in hospital ten or so days ago, but is now home. Anyone you may know who at the present time is not too well. We think of all members of our church family who are maybe struggling with health problems, and we think of those who are due to undergo hospital tests, operations, treatments etc for various conditions or perhaps waiting for results and trust all will go well for them.

We also remember all Church family and friends who can no longer share in fellowship with us because of being housebound or who are now in the loving care of Care Homes in the area, and feel sure that knowing they are in our thoughts and prayers is a comfort to them.

An invitation to Buckingham Palace – Sorry, this is not an open invitation to the church family at Greens Lane to have a grand day out, but it was a very special invitation which arrived for Holly Stoves. Holly received her invite to attend Buckingham Palace so that she could be presented with her Duke of Edinburgh ‘Gold’ Award, and so accompanied by her Mum Dawn, they headed off to London last Thursday. They had a fantastic time and in the process met some of the Royals – namely Eugenie and the Wessex’s. Many Congratulations Holly on such a wonderful achievement, so pleased you had a day to remember. Love & Blessings from all the Church Family.

Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Best Wishes to all who have Birthdays and/or Anniversaries over the next two weeks.

Dates for your Diary

8th June 7pm-8.30

Last Saturday Night Worship before Graham heads off to Uni

Christian Aid Week – from Harry Whitehouse, our CA Secretary

Thanks to all who helped to make Christian Aid Week a success. There were those who donated £145 via envelopes and loose change, and we also had an excellent jumble Sale and Coffee Morning when the donators of goods together with the helpers and buyers raised £315, making a grand total of £460. A lovely Sunday evening service led by Paul Topliss and which included an excellent sermon explaining in detail what Christian Aid is all about rounded off the week beautifully.

Ladies Circle – an open invitation to all

On Wednesday 29th May a gentleman called Steve Dobson from North Billingham will be addressing our Ladies Circle meeting on his walking of the Camino Frances – 1,000 kilometres on the way of St James, from St Pied du Port in Southern France to Santiago De Compastella in Galicia. Steve’s comments on his journey are as follows:- “for me, it is the most momentous, most spiritual and physically demanding thing that I have ever done and I will enjoy answering any questions anyone may have”. It will be a power-point presentation and it is thought that it will be a very interesting and enjoyable afternoon. Anyone popping along (both ladies and gentlemen) can be assured of a very warm welcome. – See you there !!!!

Saturday Night Worship – from Graham Stoves

This will be my last SNW as I am due to go off to University in September. It will be a service of celebration with lots of joyful songs and will be on Saturday 8th June from 7.00 – 8.30 pm. I would love to see people from Greens Lane come and join in with worship to celebrate SNW and all that we have shared in all previous SNW evenings. It is also hoped that Christina Twum, (who has been at Greens Lane from being a very little girl) will feel even more at home as we welcome her into the church family by Holy Baptism during our last Saturday Night Worship. Please try to make it a very special evening and come and share in the celebration.

Thank You’ from Patsy Britten

Grateful thanks from Patsy.

A big thank you, to all the gentlemen who have added their names, and volunteered their services to the very colourful ‘Grass Cutting Rota’ (the Rota not the grass) Your efforts will be greatly appreciated over the summer months, not only by the Church family, but also by all who use Greens Lane and who recognize the work involved to keep our gardens in good order. Thank you also to all who ‘potter’ in gardening areas to keep them up to scratch

Thy Kingdom Come is fast approaching

The global prayer movement takes place this year between 30th May and 9th June. The invitation is for Christians to commit to pray – as a church, individually or as a family – in whatever way they want and wherever they can, so that others might know Jesus Christ.

In 2018 the Methodist Church became a key partner in Thy Kingdom Come – which enables the Church to live out ‘Our Calling’ through evangelism. If you wish to read more about this global prayer movement, please have a look on line at either of the following:- or

A prayer for Summer

Dear Father of All ~

The earth is filled with beauty,

Fill my heart with joy and wonder,

let me sing with the birds,

and marvel at the plants and flowers.

If clouds should darken my horizon,

let me be aware of Your bounty,

Your endless gifts and blessings

And Your never failing love.
