Church Family News

Please remember in your prayers:- Sue Holden who is in North Tees Hospital We think of all members of our church family who are maybe struggling with health problems, and we think of those who are due to undergo hospital tests, operations, treatments etc for various conditions or perhaps waiting for results and trust all will go well for them. We also remember all Church family and friends who can no longer share in fellowship with us because of being housebound or who are now in the loving care of Care Homes in the area, and feel sure that knowing they are in our thoughts and prayers is a comfort to them.

Via Grapevine, Dorothy and Brian White wish to express their thanks to all friends at Greens Lane for helping them to enjoy such a lovely 25th Wedding Anniversary. The good wishes, cards and flowers were greatly appreciated as is the ongoing friendship and fellowship which has been continually shared with them. (Tuesday coffee folk thoroughly enjoyed their pieces of cake Dorothy, thank you for sharing it)

Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Best Wishes to all who have Birthdays and/or Anniversaries over the next four weeks.

We give a special mention for Win and Bryan Aston as they prepare to celebrate their Diamond Wedding on 19th December. The Church family send many congratulations, love and best wishes for this very special wedding anniversary of sharing 60 years as “Mr & Mrs”. May God’s love always surround you both. We hope you have a super time – before and after the 19th. (Now who else but Win could plan a wedding for six days before Christmas? ………… and Bryan is so pleased she did!)

Christmas Greetings and Blessings from the Church family at Greens Lane, to Gwenyth Nellist, Noreen Fewster, Margaret Bullock, Margaret & Albert Jefferies (good to see Albert still managing to share worship with us), Jean Raines, Anne Brewer and Ella Brennan, and we give thanks for everyone who looks after them in numerous Care Homes, and who will therefore be working during the Christmas festivities. We also remember John Chisholm, John & Jean Parker and Frank and Pauline Bailey who are no longer able to come to share worship with us. May you feel the never ending love of God embracing you all.

Party Time for our youngsters

The young people of our Sunday and Thursday Clubs will join together on Saturday 4th January for their Christmas Party (4.00 – 6.00pm). Chris and Ron wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and give thanks for their helpers, without whom they could not operate. (Hoping everyone has a great party time). Please note:- Thursday Club recommences 9th January and Sunday Club on the 12th.

Thank You from Linda Richardson

Linda wishes to pass on her thanks to all who popped along and supported the Concert held on 17th November, and also for all the lovely donations for the raffle. The evening which raised £280 showed just how much talent there is within the local area, and it is very rewarding to witness just how greatly Linda’s students are improving year on year. Well done to all who performed.

Gifts for Seafarers

What a wonderful result after our request for items that could be made up into Christmas parcels for seamen and women who will be in the port of Middlesbrough on Christmas Day. Colin and Barbara Brookes kindly delivered everything and the team at Teesport were extremely pleased and expressed their grateful appreciation of everything that was delivered. Colin and Barbara, together with Judy, joined the volunteers at the Mission on Friday to share in an evening of readings, Carols and lovely refreshments.

Thank you again to everyone who donated.

Wednesday Evening Sing a long

This little group keeps on growing, however, they will be taking a break over the festive weeks and will meet up once again on Wednesday 22nd January. The group meet at 7.30pm and sing for just one hour and a warm welcome awaits anyone who wishes to pop along and sing through the hymns scheduled for the following Sunday morning’s worship and also try out one or two new ones.

Church Christmas Card

This is now available in the vestibule and as last year it has been designed by Junior Church members. As always, members are invited to enter a message for everyone, thus making a saving on individual cards. As our Lord came into our world without a “home”, we are aware particularly at this time of year, of those who are homeless and as you sign the card, if possible, please make a donation to “Shelter” to support their work for those less fortunate, and remember them in your prayers.

All the children took part in designing individual ‘card fronts’ and all other entries can be found displayed in the hall. Why not have a look at them as you enjoy refreshments (in the hall 15th) they are well worth looking at.

Christmas Message / Prayer Tree

You will see that once again with have our Christmas ‘Tag’ Tree in the vestibule, and we invite everyone who comes into the Church during this festive season to take and write a tag from the little red basket on the table and after writing your message or prayer, place it on the tree to help to bring it to life. All tags will be removed on 4th January and will be presented and blessed during our Covenant Service on Sunday 5th January.

Church Flowers

As there will not be any fresh flower arrangements in church until Sunday 5th January, please can Margaret Walton be advised if anyone (for whatever reason) needs flowers to be taken to them, and she will ensure that they will receive fresh flowers on behalf on the Church family. Thank You

Very Welcoming

Once again our Church looks very festive and welcoming for all who come along to share in our celebrations for Advent and Christmas. Margaret Walton has been our Christmas Decorating Elf with the help of son Andrew who has fetched and carried as necessary. We thank them both for all their efforts.

Collecting Stamps

Christmas cards have certainly started to drop through our letter boxes and we give a little reminder that every single stamp is of value in helping raise funds for patients with kidney problems. Sandra Wilkinson is now our contact and will be very pleased to count as many stamps as we can pass on to her. Please keep saving stamps!

The next Grapevine, will be issued on Sunday 12th January
