GRAPEVINE – 12th to 26th January 2020

Church Family News

Please remember in your prayers:- We think of all members of our church family who are maybe struggling with health problems, and we think of those who are due to undergo hospital tests, operations, treatments etc for various conditions or perhaps waiting for results and trust all will go well for them. We also remember all Church family and friends who can no longer share in fellowship with us because of being housebound or who are now in the loving care of Care Homes in the area, and feel sure that knowing they are in our thoughts and prayers is a comfort to them.

It was with sadness that we heard of the passing of Tam Millions on 14th December, the dearly loved husband of Joyce, dear Dad of Paul and Heather, Father in Law, Granddad and Great Granddad. A service of Thanksgiving for Tam’s life was held at the Bluebell Chapel at Stockton Crematorium on Tuesday 7th January. We offer all the family our sincere condolences at this sad time and trust that they will feel God’s love surrounding them.

Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Best Wishes to all who have Birthdays or Wedding Anniversaries during the next two weeks. We wish Marion Stafford a very Happy Birthday for today as she celebrates her 91st !!!

Love and best wishes Marion from the Greens Lane Church Family XX

Special Service at Yarm Road today, 12th January

As will be noted from the front sheet, there will be a special Circuit service held at 4.00pm today at Yarm Road.

This will be taken by Rev Christine Hey and is for the Local Preacher Accreditation of Anne Day. All are welcome to share in the service and we look forward to as many as possible being able to attend. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Message from Anne Day

So I’ve passed my Local Preachers and Worship Leaders course. They have voted me in, so this service will be a celebration of me becoming a fully fledged local preacher, to serve my circuit and in any Methodist church I may find myself in. I would love it if you would join with me as we come together to worship and affirm this calling. It’s the culmination of 3 years work and is a further milestone in my journey towards ministry

Christmas Quiz – from John Schofield

Thank you to everyone who took part and completed entry forms in the recent Quiz – I hope you enjoyed the challenge !!! More than 100 quizzes were taken thereby raising £111 for Church Funds. Congratulations go to Janette Swindles from Eaglescliffe who won with a magnificent score of 49 out of 50 questions. Once again thank you all for your support.

Shelter – Charity for the Homeless

As you will be aware, this is the Charity we support each Christmas by the signing of our large Christmas card and then making a donation (in lieu of sending cards), to the work of the Charity. The cheque for this year has not yet been sent off as we note that our donations aren’t quite as good as they have been in the past. If you didn’t make a donation but still wish to, there is a collection plate at the back of Church today for ‘late donations’ thank you to all who have supported this very worthwhile charity.

Used stamps – from Sandra Wilkinson

Thank you to so many people who brought their Christmas stamps last Sunday. The total now stands at 4,321 ……………and I AM still counting!!

Tea Towels

Many groups have been celebrating during the Christmas period and therefore a large number of tea towels have been used and taken home for laundering. Please check and see that all those that do belong within our Church cupboard are returned as soon as possible ………. it has been noted that there are quite a few missing.

Smalls for All’ This is the name of a small charity based in Scotland, that send ladies underwear to Africa. If you are interested in helping at all, please have a word with Christine Smart for more details.
